In 2019, bipartisan majorities in the House and Senate approved Act 77, followed by Act 12 of 2020, which were the most comprehensive updates to our voting laws in decades. Mail-in voting, a signature achievement of that law, has been embraced by Pennsylvania voters as a safe and convenient option to return a ballot. It is only after the former President started lying about VBM that Republicans turned against this measure. It should be as easy as possible for citizens to vote. One measure I am co-sponsoring is HB2090, a comprehensive election bill that would, amongst other things: Establish 15 days of early voting Allow same-day voter registration Implement statewide electronic poll books Allow voters to “cure” defects Require counties to have at least 2 drop boxes & 1 per 50,000 residents Increases poll worker pay Allow for 21 days of pre-canvassing and adjust application deadlines Provide pre-paid ballot return postage; Allow 16- and 17-year olds to pre-register to vote
