Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling served 38 years in the US Army, commanding at every level from Tank Platoon Leader to Commanding General of United States Army Europe and the Seventh Army. Commanding the 1st Armored Division during one of his combat tours, he also commanded at all three of the Army's Combat Training Centers. Upon retirement from the army in 2013, he became an senior executive for a large healthcare organization, and in that role also created a successful Healthcare Leader Development program that he continues to conduct at myriad hospitals and with different physician groups. He was twice appointed to Presidential Commissions, and since 2014 he has served as a national security and military analyst for CNN and CNNI.
