Appointed by President Biden in February 2021, Mr. Jesse Salazar served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy. He focused his public service on securing defense supply chains during a period of significant disruption, preparing the DoD for peer-level economic and defense competition through the tech-enablement of defense production, revitalizing U.S. economic security intelligence, and working to preserve competition in the defense industry. Mr. Salazar also led global external relations for the Advanced Industries practice of McKinsey & Company. He holds an MA in Economic History from Princeton University, where he received the Davis Merit Prize and the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Advanced Humanistic Studies, and he earned a BA with honors from the University of Pennsylvania.
